Starling Riders bag two medals at the opening round of the British National Enduro Series.

It’s hopefully pretty obvious that we LOVE racing here at Starling Cycles. It’s the roots of what we do and it was a big reason why Joe decided to make Starling’s bikes in the first place.
And whilst we’re not all about the racing these days, we do love supporting some fast, talented racers and giving something back to the sharp end of mountain biking.
And you can imagine how stoked we are to see not one, but two great results from this weekend’s British National Enduro Series, held in Scotland at the famously rocky Laggan Wolftrax Mountain Bike Centre.
Starting with the gold medal, our latest supported rider Hâf Land showed up on her new Twist, built up fresh for the weekend. She joined us at the start of 2024, having only been racing since 2022.
This was her first race on a Starling and, we’re pretty sure her first British National Series Enduro race. In keeping with it being a weekend of firsts, Hâf put down an awesome day of riding and took first place in the Under 21 women’s category, bagging her first ever National win.
We’re really excited to see where the rest of the year takes Hâf and her Twist.
But that’s not the only good result. Joe Varndell, long-standing Starling racer, also brought home a medal for the trophy cabinet.
Racing in men’s Under 21s, he was flying all day and knocking out top 3 stage times on every trail… With the exception of stage 2. A slower-than-the-rest stage result knocked him down the results sheet, putting him under a minute off the win, but into an awesome second place.
And whilst second in his category is great – Joe’s overall result is even more interesting. 12th overall in the entire field, less than a minute off the overall win and only seconds off some really fast, really experienced pro racers. Big things to come from this guy!
